Design and Delivery of Training Course: Introduction to Humanitarian Action

Design and Delivery of Training Course: Introduction to Humanitarian Action

This training course was designed specifically to strengthen Diakonia’s staff capacities to design, implement and evaluate humanitarian projects. It consisted of modules covering humanitarian principles, ethics and standards, Diakonia’s humanitarian policy and strategy, and its toolkit for humanitarian project management (see Design of Global Humanitarian Growth Plan). The course was delivered by Marilise Turnbull in Bogotá and Managua, and by Josephine Hutton in Bangkok and Nairobi.

Client: Diakonia – Sweden

Staff of Diakonia and its partner organisations commented:

” I had no idea how to use the Sphere manual and humanitarian charter before this workshop. Now I do, and I understand how to apply the Red Cross Code of Conduct and what ‘accountability’ means in practice. ”

Dynamic workshop!

“The way the trainer explained humanitarian action as a process, with tools for each phase, was really great.”

“We covered so much in 3 days and the time just flew by.”
